Senate Beat Wishes It Was Still Fall Break
Student Body President Andee Gude ‘26 opened this week’s Senate Public by reporting on their subcommittee (Prevention and Education) of the Presidential Council on Campus Climate, which is “talking about… how to open up the floor to students” to hear their recommendations for future programming. President Gude also announced that they are working with the Bike Co-Op to set up a budget for bike stipends, and that they are working with Associate Dean for Student and Campus Life Claudia Ramirez Islas about finding a new place for the grieving space.
Senator Andrew Sakahara ‘27 maintained remarks (began in prior Senate Publics) about eco-containers in Commons, mentioning that he met with Sustainability Coordinator Rachel Willis about advertising these containers, and announced on behalf of the Legislation Committee that the Office for Student Life is interested in establishing standards and regulations for student posters and flyers on campus. Senator Sakahara also mentioned that in a meeting with Director of Athletics, Fitness, and Outdoor Programs Michael Lombardo where “he drove us off campus, for some reason,” they had discussed the success of the new and improved Sports Center. Sakahara also raised concerns about the fact that Parent and Family Weekend (November 1-2) overlapped with Oktoberfest — which is also this Friday. It’s been a real quest.”
