Finals Resources!

Good luck with finals! Make sure to take care of yourself during the next week. Here are some on-campus resources to help get you through it.

Tutoring at Reed

Reed has a robust peer tutoring program, employing around 200 tutors for a wide range of courses. Students are eligible for up to one hour per week of individual (one-on-one) tutoring for each course they are registered in, in addition to unlimited access to drop-in (group) tutoring for a number of introductory-level courses and the languages.

Drop-in tutoring will have different hours than usual during finals week; you can contact Amaan Mohiuddin, the Tutor Program Coordinator, with any questions.

In addition to in-person resources, there are a variety of online resources for study tips, workshop links, software, and video tutorials available on the Office of Academic Support website.

Mental Health

The Health and Counseling Center (HCC) announced that as of Dec. 1, there is expanded mental health support available for all enrolled students. Partnering with Uwill, the leading student mental health and wellness solution, students have gained access to counseling with a therapist of their choice. There is no cost to use Uwill, and the college will provide students with 360 counseling credits for their sessions. You are able to choose a time that fits your schedule with extended availability and different types of appointments (video, phone, chat, or message). Find out more at the HCC website, or reach out directly to Uwill at (833) 99U-WILL or support@uwill.com.

There’s also a student mental health support group meeting every Sunday. If you want to learn more or sign up for their mailing list, contact Ashley Ledbetter at ashledbet@reed.edu.

Additionally, ABIDE (Awareness of Body Image and Disordered Eating) is a student-lead, therapist-supported support group for Reed students who struggle with disordered eating and body image. They meet once a week, and if you want to know more or get support, contact Kate Walz at kawalz@reed.edu

Substance Recovery Coalition

Reed has resources available for students who may struggle with staying sober during finals week. The Substance Recovery Coalition (SRC) is an organization of student leaders supporting sober, recovering, and allied students at Reed. The SRC facilitates this mission by providing resources, building community, increasing representation, and reducing stigma. You can contact them on instagram (@reed_src), or email them at src@reed.edu

Physical Health

The HCC offers scheduled appointments and walk-in visits Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. To make an appointment, contact them at (503) 777-7281, schedule on the Student Portal, or come by the HCC. They are also currently offering first, second, and booster doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Get moving! A little bit of exercise can help release stress, boost endorphins, and improve brain function. The Sports Center will have regular hours during finals week: Monday - Thursday 7 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.; Friday 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; and Sunday 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Learn more on the Athletics, Fitness, & Outdoor Programs website.
