My 10 Favorite Films of All Time

I love films. Here are my 10 favorite films of all time, counting down to my top film of all time:

10) Last Night in Soho

Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho is by far his best film. It makes sense structurally and explains everything. What I love the most about this film is that Wright actually nails what women are most afraid of: accidentally staying in the house of a random woman who killed all her sexual predators and is now trying to kill you. That’s my biggest fear personally.

9) Air

Ben Affleck’s Air is not one giant commercial, like you think it would be. After watching this film I wanted to buy many, many pairs of Nikes and run back to the theater to see it 20 more times. The story was engaging and not Nike propaganda. In fact, no one from Nike was even involved in the film. My favorite part was seeing Affleck’s bare feet in 4k enlarged all over my screen.

8) Sex and the City 2

I hate anything related to Sex and the City besides this film. This film has a totally accurate representation of Abu Dhabi and was actually filmed there as well, which I think is a totally cool feature. I gotta say, the scene where Carrie and the gang connect with the women of Abu Dhabi is so realistic and heartwarming. It totally makes sense and was just the cherry on top of this wonderful, wonderful film.

7) Love Hard

Love Hard is probably my favorite Christmas film. I mean, a catfishing story about how two people who have completely different favorite Christmas films, which obviously means they are fundamentally different, fall in love is so heartwarming. I know that if someone didn’t have Love Hard as their favorite Christmas film and catfished me I could never ever fall in love with them.

6) Descendants: Rise of Red

As a child, I hated Descendants. So, when I found out that there was a new movie being released,  I felt nothing but pain. But, after watching this, my mind was changed. After seeing the artful cinematography, the beautiful songs, and the well-structured and paced masterclass of cinema that this film is, I decided that I just had to grow into it and like Descendants

5) Back to Black

As someone who never listens to Amy Winehouse and hates her music, I loved this film. It doesn’t feel like a trendy ChatGPT baby and the actress who plays Winehouse sounds and looks just like her. I sat through the whole thing with a smile of pure joy and excitement on my face even after seeing it in theaters three times.

4) It Ends With Us

As a proud Hoover-head, I loved this film. Blake Lively looked fantastic and served straight looks while Justin Baldoni was a sexy beast. While I loved this film, the best part of it has to be the marketing. I mean, wowsers! A set with no drama, promotion about how important the film is for recognizing the signs and significance of domestic violence, while the actors in the film don’t promote their products? I couldn’t ask for anything more.

3) The Bubble

As someone who lived through COVID-19 and can remember it, unlike anyone else in existence, I thought this film was completely accurate to my experience. I’d also say this film felt like it was too short. I want to see more! I was sufficiently entertained and not in an unbearable state of cringe the whole time while watching. I’m happy this film is one of the things future generations will look back on to try to grasp the accurate COVID-19 experience.

2) Madame Web

The question is, where to start with this one?. There are so many fantastic elements of this film, but honestly it just has some of my favorite thought-provoking dialogue ever. With lines such as “It’s like he’s some sort of spider… man!” and “New York’s a whole new kind of crazy these days,” it’s impossible to not love this film. Not to mention the amazing acting all around. This has to be my favorite Marvel film of all time.

1) Cats

Can I just say I’m so enthralled with this film? I love that this was the last film I saw in theaters before COVID-19 hit and I’m so happy it was. The CGI looks fantastic, all of the actors who portrayed these cats honestly were so incredibly accurate to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s original score and they all sounded fantastic. I think the addition of “Beautiful Ghosts” to the soundtrack added so much to the storyline and all of the characters. I was not confused by anything at any point and I can’t wait to watch this film again and again and again until I die.
