Las Vegas Ikebana: Maren Hassinger and Senga Nengudi is curated by Allie Tepper, associate curator The exhibition is organized for the Cooley by Tepper with director Stephanie Snyder The Cooley Gallery is pleased to present Las Vegas Ikebana: Maren Hassinger and Senga Nengudi, the first museum exhibition focused on the pioneering collective and cross-genre practices of artists Maren Hassinger.

Inspired by the incredible true story of American Civil War soldier, Sarah Rosetta Wakeman (alias Lyons Wakeman), The Rosetta Project, aka Wakeman, is sure to thrill both music and theater lovers alike. The powerful melodies, tight harmonies, and beautiful yet heartbreaking score examine a young life filled with longing and passion and searching for a place of belonging in the world. Join us in workshopping this new folk-rock musical. The artist conversation and showcase are free and open to the public, but participation in the workshop and rehearsals is limited to Reed students only. Students may sign up by emailing Jenna Tamimi at jtamimi@reed.edu. Students who are interested in singing should include a short video or recording of themselves signing a song of their choosing. Presented as part of the Stephen E. Ostrow Distinguished Visitors in the Visual Arts series, with opening remarks by exhibition curator Allie Tepper and closing commentaries by Dr. Leslie King Hammond and Dr. Lowery Stokes Sims. Let's Talk is not a substitute for counseling and does not constitute mental health treatment. Let's Talk counselors can listen to specific problems, help explore solutions, and introduce you to what it's like to speak with a member of our staff. Other options for care from the Health & Counseling Center (HCC) include individual counseling (call 503-777-7281 to schedule), Uwill teletherapy, and the Reed 24/7 Phone Counseling Hotline (866-432-1224).
Student Ecotherapy Workshop (2:30pm to 4pm @ Canyon)
Are you feeling stressed or lonely? Do you have a desire to connect with other nature beings? This workshop is skills based and experiential. We will practice mindfulness in nature-settings to strengthen your relationship with the more than human world and facilitate reflection, connection, and reciprocity. The outdoor experiential sessions will include walking on uneven and/or muddy paths in the Reed Canyon, and meeting at the Rhododendron Garden near Reed! The outdoor meetings will continue if it is raining (please dress accordingly and bring any personal items such as an umbrella, if desired). In the event of extreme weather, the participants will be contacted directly. Please plan to attend both sessions if you register. Pre-registration is required for participation in this workshop. Once you have been registered for the workshop we will send materials and information for the workshop via email.

Throughout the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries, Anishinaabeg and Euro-American peoples sought out the boulder, as both peoples used copper to navigate their cultures and cosmoses. Their interactions with the copper boulder illuminate those different understandings, and trace the transformations in power over the Upper Great Lakes throughout the colonial era.

Finding Your Home Process Group (2pm to 3:30pm @ Health & Counseling Center)
A place to talk about your experience with your body and the systems that interact with it. Finding Your Home is a process based group about bodies, reclaiming ownership, and finding safety within a world that can be unsafe. Each meeting will be guided by a different topic about your relationship to your body. All are welcome and affirmed.
Group screening is required. This is not a replacement for individual therapy or engaging with a treatment team for body/eating concerns.
Topics may include: Perfectionism What does safety look like inside and outside of your body? Boundaries Exploring body stories Identifying communities of support
When? Wednesdays from 2-3:30. This group will have four meetings, on February 14th, 21st, 28th, and March 6th
