Shuugs likes to meet with thesis students, walk around campus, and interrupt the occasional Hum lecture. You may have seen him around campus sniffing at the grass or writing poetry in English class. Shuugs loves attending class where he usually will sit in a chair or nap on the floor while he listens to the discussions going on. He also really likes bananas. When I interviewed him, his person, Laura Leibman, had a banana on her desk. Using his very powerful nose, he sniffed out the banana, and for the rest of the interview, that was all he wanted. While I took pictures, he stared at the banana and began making small huffy noises that slowly grew into barks. He only stopped to show me a couple of his favorite outfits. One of his best costumes, the Doyle Owl, is featured above. Finally, after hours and hours (like ten minutes), Shuugs was able to get the smallest nibble (large chunk) of banana. But it wasn’t enough! Shuugs wanted more! See, he hadn’t eaten all day (literally just gave him a treat) and he wanted more banana. That’s when we decided he may need to go for a walk instead and forget about the banana for a bit. One fun fact about Shuugs is that he is an intersex pug! Luckily, this does not cause any health issues for him! The breeders he came from thought he was a female pug at first before he went to get spayed and found out he had a mix of both female and male parts. Shuugs, however, doesn’t care because he is a dog and has no concept of gender or sex. 14/10 If you want to see pictures of him as a puppy go to @pugsofreed on Instagram.
