The Douglas F. Cooley Memorial Art Gallery, Reed College, is proud to present Dark Moves: Fabiola Menchelli & Heather Watkins. This intimate exhibition consists of newly-commissioned work by Mexico City artist Fabiola Menchelli and Northwest artist Heather Watkins. Nestled in the Reed College library, the gallery is free and open to the public. Families are welcome!

Student Artist/Musician Showcase: Aaron Grinberg (12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. @ GCC Foyer)

Reedie, Aaron Grinberg, is a multimedia dada artist. Check out Aaron's minimalist and maximalist music, visual art, found objects, spoken word stories, videos and more!

Photography Club Meeting (1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. @ Winch, ODB)

Interested in meeting other photographers on campus? Do you enjoy experimenting with lighting and composition? Join the photography club for photo walks, editing nights, and possibly an end-of-year exhibition! No prior experience is required for any meetings, and everyone is welcome to join.

Biology Seminar: Dr. Julia Michaels (4:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. @ Psychology 105)

Dr. Julia Michaels is a Restoration Ecologist & Designer for Hedgerow Farms, which specializes in seeds and plants used in wildlife habitat restoration projects, agricultural revegetation projects, for erosion control and urban and rural landscaping. 

SWDC Game Night (5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.)

SWDC is hosting a Game Night open to all Reed students! Feel free to drop by anytime between 5 and 7 pm. Board and card games will be provided, but you can bring your own too! STEMGeMs is hosting representatives from STEM-related clubs for an evening of coloring books (some of which are also STEM-related!) and pizza! Come see William Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It! Completely student-produced, this show takes a modern approach to the timeless story about navigating gender, love, and identity. As You Like It! is sharply funny and extremely silly, following Rosalind and Celia as they disguise themselves and go into the forest of Arden after being exiled and meet many more eccentric characters there.

Musical Theater Appreciation Club Meetings (2pm-3pm @Eliot Hall 121)

The Oregon Koto-Kai Hanami Performance (3pm to 4pm @ Eliot front lawn)

Welcome in the springtime with a special live performance by the Oregon Koto-Kai! The Oregon Koto-Kai plays traditional and contemporary arrangements on the koto, the national instrument of Japan.

Join us for live music and light refreshments under the beautiful cherry blossoms! This event is hosted by the Japanese Heritage Student Union and is open to all.

Gryphon Group AA (4:30pm-6pm @Psych 108)

The Gryphon Group of Alcoholics Anonymous is an open meeting that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8:15pm via Zoom and in person on Sundays from 4:30-6pm. We welcome all who seek to know more about alcoholism. We share our experience, strength, and hope. Gryphon was founded by Reed students in 1982. Monday, April 10th

Ecotherapy Two-Part Student Workshop (2:30pm to 4pm @ HCC)

This workshop is skills based and experiential. We will practice mindfulness in nature-settings to strengthen your relationship with nature and facilitate reflection, connection, and reciprocity. The outdoor experiential sessions will include walking on uneven and/or muddy paths in the Reed Canyon, and meeting at the Rhododendron Garden near Reed! The outdoor meetings will continue if it is raining (please dress accordingly and bring any personal items such as an umbrella, if desired). In the event of extreme weather, the participants will be contacted directly.

Reed Academic Quizbowl Practice (4:15pm-6:15pm @PAB 131)

Come practice with the Reed QB team! NAQT Tournament-style team gameplay on any subject under the moon (and over it, if yours is astrophysics)!

Student senate's weekly public meeting for questions and concerns from the community and hearing about our ongoing projects!

Reed Finance and Investment Club Meeting (5pm-6pm, @Eliot 207) 

Join the Reed Finance and Investment Club! We help manage a portion of Reed College's endowment, and you can too! We meet every Monday from 5 to 6 PM in Eliot 207. This semester we will have a variety of speakers, investment strategy presentations, stock pitches, and more! :)

GeMs In Math Social (6pm to 8pm @ GCC - B)

Do you identify as a gender minority? Have you ever taken a math class at Reed? Want to meet other GeMs in math at Reed?

We're an on-campus writer's group dedicated to making time for creativity during the semester. Come and find us Monday nights, 6:30-8:30 PM, for snacks, time to write, and time to share your work with other writers!

Tuesday, April 11th

CLBR Drop-In (11:30am-1:30pm @GCC - A)

Come visit CLBR advisors on Tuesdays from 11:30-1:30 in the breezeway of Commons (just next to the stairs) if you're looking for a quick career chat! We're happy to help with resume revisions, seeking out alumni to network with, or designing a strong cover letter. If you're not even sure where to start in your career journey, we are happy to help you take that first step!

Nature-Based Mindfulness (3pm-4pm @Great Lawn)

We will offer a variety of nature-based mindfulness experiences that can be modified depending on attendee preferences and accessibility needs. These practices will either be stationary or mindful walking experiences. If we decide to engage in a walking experience on the Reed campus, the pace will be slow and the focus will be on engaging your senses. The paths may be uneven/muddy. The focus of these practices will be to strengthen your relationship with the land and nature and to transition from “thinking” to “sensing” and from “doing” to “being” which will help facilitate non-judgmental present-moment focus, connection, self-reflection, and centering. Language Lab Open House (1pm to 4pm @ Library, Language Lab, LL3)

Come take a peek at the newly renovated Language Lab! The Language Lab provides support and resources to Reed’s language learning community. We’ll have recommendations from movies to music and more. There will also be food, drinks, and snacks!

Trans Activism in Brazil and the Struggle for Political Representation (5pm to 6:30pm @ Vollum 110)

Students of LGBT activism have long documented that political gains by gays and lesbians have outpaced those of the trans community. Yet, in a marked shift from decades of exclusionary politics within social movement spaces and institutional politics, trans activists in Brazil have achieved historic levels of political representation in contemporary politics. In many ways, Brazilian travesti e transexual activists [sic] are now at the helm of shaping national and international conversations on trans rights. This talk situates representation strategies developed within the coalitional LGBT movement alongside the framework of participatory democracy and, more recently, electoral politics.

Join us for a choral concert exploring topics of land and diaspora, dispersal and memory, nuancing notions of east and west, identity and folk song through works by Komitas Vardapet, Claude Debussy, Samih Choukeir, Mari Ésabel Valverde, Kathleen Allan, and Javier Busto. Featuring Reed College's Chorus, Treble Voices Ensemble and Collegium Musicum, pianist Rebecca Stager, guitarist Sal Wallin ('25), and conductor Shohei Kobayashi.
